Tara Attfield-Tomes, founder of the 51% Club, emphasises the critical need for collaboration and events like this that are focused on female founders:
“Since launching The 51% Club just a few months ago, we’ve welcomed hundreds of founders as members – it’s been heartwarming, and somewhat overwhelming, to see just how needed a community like this has been. The 51% Club is built around the power of peer community; bringing women together to share experiences, collaborate with one another, and take their businesses to the next level. Adding in experts who understand the challenges women face in business and, more importantly, can help them tackle them head on is where the magic happens.
I am determined to make the Growth Marketing Day the first of many events like this, that place an unapologetic focus on female founders. Research suggests that women-led businesses adds £105 billion to the economy, representing over 6% of GVA, but we have to be intentional about helping women to succeed. It’s going to take deliberate and decisive commitment from businesses, funders, and ecosystems – like The 51% Club has been lucky to have with STEAMhouse and Hatch – to make change and space for female entrepreneurs.”
STEAMhouse, Birmingham’s accessible innovation hub that focuses on driving business growth through collaboration and creativity, will not only host the event, but will also offer access to its cutting-edge tech and innovation talent to support attendees. Sophia Tarr, Business Partnerships Manager at STEAMhouse, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaborative event:
“We are incredibly proud to host The 51% Club’s Growth Marketing Day at STEAMhouse. This event directly speaks to our ethos of fostering accessible innovation and supporting the growth of SMEs in the region. By providing an inclusive, creative and collaborative environment, we hope to continue to grow our community, inspire and drive meaningful change for female founders in the Midlands.”
The 51% Club’s Growth Marketing Day in collaboration with STEAMhouse is completely free to attend, further removing barriers to entry that disproportionately affect female founders.
