Sutton double stabbing after two men knifed in street fight

Two men were taken to hospital following a double stabbing in South London. Police rushed to Benhill Avenue, in Sutton, at about 8.20pm yesterday (Sunday, February 4) to reports of a ‘altercation’ between two men.

On arrival to the street just out of the main town centre area, Met Police officers found two men with stab wound injuries and they were raced them to hospital. Police confirmed on Monday afternoon that both of the men have since been discharged to continue their recovery at home.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Benhill Avenue, Sutton. Officers were called to the location at about 8.20pm on Sunday, February 4, following reports that two men had been involved in an altercation.

“Officers attended and found two men [A] and [B] suffering with stab injuries. They were both taken to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged. One of the men [B] was subsequently arrested on suspicion of GBH in connection with the incident. Enquiries are ongoing.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called yesterday (February 4) at 8:31pm to reports of an incident on Benhill Avenue, Sutton.

“We sent some resources to the scene including an incident response officer and an ambulance crew. We treated two men at the scene, one of whom was taken to hospital.”
